Find out how to use a bed heel elevator. The Bed Heel Elevator is designed to reduce patient discomfort and assist pressure care and blood flow. You can read the transcript below: The Bed Heel Elevator is designed to help with blood flow as well as pressure care for the under calf; and is made of foam and shaped to support the calf comfortably. The nylon cover is sweat resistant and removable for machine washing; it is a Class 1 medical device (non invasive and non sterile) Patients can rest their leg on the Bed Heel Elevator lying on their back of their side. If both heels need to be raised, then two Bed Heel Elevators can be used together. A Foot Drop Support can be used in conjunction with the Bed Heel Elevator. It secures to the Bed Heel Elevator with velcro, and likewise has a removable nylon, washable, cover. The Foot Drop Support works to ensure the patient's ankle remains in a position close to 90 degrees, preventing excessive joint stiffness.
